Georgians for a Healthy Future elects 2012 officers, names new Board members

 

ATLANTA, Ga. (February  6, 2012) – Georgians for a Healthy Future, one of the state’s leading health advocacy organizations, announced today the election of Dr. Harry J. Heiman as chairman of the group’s Board of Directors for 2012.  Dr. Heiman is the director of health policy at The Satcher Health Leadership Institute and assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Morehouse School of Medicine.

Other Board officer elections included:

  • Patricia Nobbie, Deputy Director of the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities, as vice chair;
  • Jeffery Graham, Executive Director of Georgia Equality and the Equality Foundation of Georgia, as secretary, and
  • Scott Mathews as treasurer.

In addition, Georgians for a Healthy Future also announced the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors:

  • Charles N. Hayslett, CEO of Hayslett Group LLC, an Atlanta communications firm;
  • Miriam Urizar Rittmeyer, M.D., M.P.H., Ph.D., Executive Director, Community Health Mission in Savannah; and
  • Jon W. Wollenzien, Jr., CEO of Palmetto Health Council, Inc. in Atlanta.

“ Georgians for a Healthy Future has come a long way since we opened our doors just three short years ago, and one reason has been the active involvement and leadership of a committed and engaged Board of Directors,” said Cindy Zeldin, the organization’s executive director.  “We look forward to continuing that progress under Dr. Heiman’s leadership and with the support of our new and returning board members.”

With the new appointments, Georgians for a Healthy Future now has 11 board members.  Other board members are: Robert Bush, Senior Staff Attorney, Elder Law Project, Georgia Legal Services Program; Sylvia Caley, Associate Clinical Professor, and Co-Director of the HeLP Legal Services Clinic Georgia State University College of Law; Julie Edelson, Policy Advisor, CDC, and Kathy Floyd, Legislative Director, AARP Georgia.
