Enmarket to Raise Funds Throughout August for LLS’s Light the Night

(SAVANNAH, GA) All 124 of Enmarket’s convenience stores across Georgia and the Carolinas will join the fight against blood cancers in August, marking the seventh consecutive year the stores have helped raise money during the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night campaign.

The stores’ month-long campaign will involve selling Light the Night paper icons for $1 each to support the non-profit’s mission to cure blood cancer and to help patients and their families.

To date, Enmarket’s participation in the organization’s major fundraiser has raised over a total of $500,000. This year, the convenience store chain hopes to partner with its customers to add $150,000 to that number.

Each year, the event spurs friendly competition among the stores and last year, the Port Royal, South Carolina, location won bragging rights for the most money raised at a single store.

“Our customers and our employees enjoy this fun and easy way to support an important cause,” said Brett Giesick, president of Enmarket. “Our mission is to enrich life in the communities we serve, and we do that in a variety of ways, from our Encourage Health speaker series to the LLS campaign. This particular icon sale gives customers a chance to join thousands of other customers to make a major impact with a small donation.”

The money that’s raised will be donated to LLS at the annual Light the Night program, set for Nov. 9 on Memorial Health’s campus in Savannah. At that event, walkers carry illuminated balloons along the walk route – white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory. The new state-of-the-art convenience store was renovated to integrate its appearance into the surrounding historic district. The design of the new 3,522-square-foot convenience store at 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. drew from the site’s transportation-related history with its proximity adjacent to the Central of Georgia Railway and Georgia State Railroad Museum.

The non-traditional design includes, among other things, an outdoor dining patio, a green space, and a bike service area. Enmarket contracted with a local artist to design and paint a community-themed mural on one of the exterior walls.

The rebuilt outlet is accessible to trolleys and other vehicles critical to Savannah’s downtown tourism industry and features four multi-product dispensers with gasoline and diesel offering.

“We are thrilled to unveil this beautiful new store in the historic district,” said Brett Giesick, President of Enmarket. “The design and concept reflect the direction we are taking in the community which is to provide a more modern, customer-friendly store with a dual focus on pedestrian and automobile traffic.”

The new store features Enmarket products already available at other full-service stores, including fountain drinks, “chillen” frozen beverages, bean-to-cup coffee, and local craft beer. The location also includes Enmarket’s proprietary kitchen concept, The Eatery, featuring its signature breakfast biscuits and antibiotic-free, never-frozen chicken. Fresh grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, parfaits, and more are prepared on-site. This is the only convenience store to offer all of these options on the western end of downtown Savannah.

Fatzinger joins a group of 18 fellow Trustees to provide strategic guidance, financial oversight, and fundraising assistance for LLS.

Fatzinger is the Director of Foodservice Operations for Enmarket. He is a restaurant industry veteran with a background in Operations, Training, and Franchising working with some of the best-known name brands in the world. With a background in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Fatzinger made a name for himself opening concepts in non-traditional and international locations. Currently, he is bringing cutting edge food and beverage technology and programs into the Convenience Store space while growing a franchise footprint into non-traditional locations.

Fatzinger is passionate about classic books, educating the future generations, and enjoying an outdoors/ fitness lifestyle- especially on a road cycle. His volunteer efforts have included involvement in local politics, international missions and raising money for organizations helping those who are often overlooked.

The Georgia Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, headquartered in Atlanta with satellite offices in Augusta and Savannah, helps those diagnosed with blood cancers with financial and emotional support. Through a variety of fundraising campaigns and directed gifts, the Georgia Chapter raised $11 million in fiscal year 2019 to help fund its mission.

Enmarket’s New Technology Lets Mobile Users Bypass Checkout Lines

(SAVANNAH, GA) Enmarket’s convenience stores just got more convenient with the installation of Skip Checkout, a new mobile-based application that enables customers to scan and pay for their goods with their phones and skip checkout lines.

The technology is available in all 124 Enmarketstores, making it the nation’s largest convenience store chain to adopt the technology.

“Customers who have the free Skip Checkoutapp can scan their purchases with the lens on their phone, pay with the click of a button, and flash their phone to the cashier on their way out the door, all without standing in line,” said Brett Giesick, President of Enmarket. “Even people who don’t use the app will benefit because this will speed up lines and enable our employees to work on even further improving the customer experience.”

Enmarket Mobile Payments

It sounds complicated, but it’s not. Here’s a step-by-step rundown:

  • Customers download the Skip Checkoutapp free from getskip.com or your preferred app store, create an account, and link a payment card to begin using the technology. The app can be up and running in just a few minutes.
  • When you visit your Enmarketstore, open the app. Once you confirm your location, as prompted by the app, you are ready to shop!
  • Scan the barcodes of your items to add them to your shopping cart, where they will be stored until you are ready to pay. Items such as fresh fruit or hot dogs that don’t have a barcode can be purchased through a pick-list in the app.
  • Click the pay button to complete your transaction and charge your card. Then, on your way out of the store, flash your phone to an employee at the cash register to show you’re using Skip, and you’re done.

Age-restricted products such as beer may be scanned in the app, but those customers must still present their ID to the sales associate.

Customers have found the app very easy to use, and a fast, convenient way to shop.

“The process is smooth from start to finish, and the app is very easy to figure out how to use,” said Callie McIntosh, an Enmarketcustomer. “Enmarkethas really made it convenient to get in and out quickly. I use it every time I check out, and I still get a friendly acknowledgement from the employees on my way out the door.”

Enmarket employees received training to prepare for the rollout of the new technology. Employees are alerted every time a Skipshopper enters the store, and also when they have paid for their transaction, thanks to an iPad using Skiptechnology next to the cash register. Security features are built in as well.

“Convenience to our customers is fundamental to our business model,” said Giesick. “By investing in the latest technology, we are able to enhance that convenience. Customers can get in, get out and get on their way even faster with Skip Checkout. We’re thrilled to introduce this innovative technology to consumers in our markets. (POOLER, GA) Enmarket, a Savannah-based chain of convenience stores, built a new 6,366-square-foot store on Pooler Parkway across the street from the soon-to-open St. Joseph’s/CandlerPooler Campus.

The store, which offers 20 fueling stations and an electronic vehicle charging station, is Enmarket’s third in Pooler but its first on Pooler Parkway. The two others are on Highway 80.

The new store features the chain’s first drive-through window, serving fresh food and beverages from Enmarket’s proprietary restaurant, The Eatery. It also features touchless restrooms, exposed ceilings, spacious parking and outdoor seating.

Some features are invisible to customers but will contribute to better service, such things as a redesigned and more efficient kitchen and an improved vendor receiving area. Progressive Builderswas the general contractor for the project.

The new store is part of an Enmarketexpansion plan that includes the rebuild of the existing store on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in downtown Savannah, a new headquarters complex that will include the rebuild of the Enmarketon U.S. 17 at Chatham Parkway and a future store in Port Wentworth.

(SAVANNAH, GA) Enmarketconvenience stores are making an enhancement to their mobile app that will allow customers to buy items through their phones and save a trip to the register.

Enmarket, one of the first convenience store chains in the U.S. to use the new mobile payment technology, has partnered with Skip, a mobile self-checkout service. The technology is designed to reduce the speed of checkout from an average of 60 seconds to an instant checkout action controlled by the customer.

It also is configured to provide easy access to promotional deals and in-store items at the pump or prior to arrival.

(SAVANNAH, GA) Due to the outpouring of community support, Enmarketis pleased to announce that the company has raised $128,240.88 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Light the Night Walk. Since the company started this annual fundraiser in 2013, Enmarkethas raised a total of $481,744.75 for LLS.

Every year, for one month, the company’s 122 stores in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina sell Light the Nightpaper balloon icons for $1 each in support of LLS’s mission to cure blood cancer and help patients and their families.

The store that raised the most overall this year was the Port Royal location, which held an in-store fundraiser raising $1,281 in a single day. The location raised $4,609 in total.

“Every year, our customers show us an extraordinary amount of support in our efforts for LLS,” said Brett Giesick, Enmarket’s president. “Several stores doubled or even tripled their original goals, including Reidsville, Brooklet, Port Royal and Wilmington. We are so thankful for our staff and our customers for making this donation possible.”

Representatives from the Enmarketteam presented the $128,240.88 check to LLSrepresentatives on Wednesday, September 12. “We are so grateful for the support from Enmarketand their customers,” said Lauren Mathews, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Georgia Chapter’s Campaign Manager for Light The Night. “This donation helps to provide patient support services, goes towards advocating for lifesaving treatments, as well as, cancer research. With this one check, we’ve now reached over half of our fundraising goal.”

Savannah’s Light The Night Walkwill take place on Friday, November 16 in Daffin Park. During the event, walkers carry an illuminated balloon along the walk route.
