Inspire Your Community Podcast Donated $2,000 to Richmond Hill’s Backpacks of Love Program

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Inspire Your Community podcast, which was launched this year by Chris Tilton, one of two principals at the Dewitt Tilton Group construction firm, to share inspiring local stories of inspiration, kindness and positivity, wrapped up 2019 with a $2,000 donation to Backpacks of Love and a volunteer session of packing family food boxes.

The podcast launched in the spring of 2019, seeking to inspire the community with true stories and to support the organizations that generated those stories with Dewitt Tilton Group’s philanthropy. Projects to date have included support for the family of a police officer who lost his life in the line of duty, funding for art supplies at a local elementary school and a creative project that supports local breast cancer survivors.

For the final episode of the year, the podcast turned its attention to the Backpacks of Love program in Richmond Hill, Ga. This organization, launched in January 2013, sends needy and potentially hungry children home with bags of food every Friday, as well as boxes of food on holiday breaks, filling the gaps ordinarily filled by their school-based breakfasts and lunches. The United Way of the Coastal Empire partners with the New Beginnings Community Church to provide funding that allows the group to obtain food from Second Harvest Food Bank, and other donations supplement the amount and type of food included.

Each Friday, the participating children each receive a bag containing two entrees such as soup or ravioli, a two-pack of instant oatmeal, an individual cereal package, a granola bar, fruit snack, crackers, cookies, fruit cup or fresh fruit, juice box and shelf-stable milk.

Melodie Lane, director of Backpacks of Love, worked with the Dewitt Tilton Group before the holiday break as they and their families packed over 25 food boxes with a ham or turkey, instant potatoes, canned yams, six to eight cans of vegetables and a can of gravy, several boxes of macaroni and cheese, spaghetti and sauce, peanut butter and jelly, beans, bread, rice, cornmeal mix, pancake mix and syrup, cake mix and frosting, plus a bag of candy canes or other holiday candy.

“The thought of children going hungry is just not acceptable,” said Chris Tilton, host of the podcast. “We wanted to support Backpacks of Love because these folks are not only feeding children during the holidays but throughout the school year. This effort is truly inspiring.”

The podcast is accessible on YouTube at https://youtu.be/8CfBaANc9J4. It is also streamable on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher and other places where podcasts can be found.

“Inspire Your Community” Podcast Supports The Bra Project

“Inspire Your Community” Podcast Supports The Bra Project

(SAVANNAH, GA, and BLUFFTON/BEAUFORT, SC) “Inspire Your Community,” a philanthropic podcast series launched by Chris Tilton of the Dewitt Tilton Group, will turn its spotlight and its $1,000 donation to The Bra Project this October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

DSC_7046 (1)

The Bra Project is sponsored by the Pinnacle Medical Group to benefit DragonBoat Beaufort and its mission to support area cancer survivors. This marks the fifth year in which The Bra Project has invited high school students to custom-design bras for submission in a traveling art show as part of a competition for best-designed bra. Art classes from Hilton Head, May River and Bluffton high schools participated in this year’s Project.

The student-designed bras have been featured in a tour of Beaufort County stores and healthcare facilities, including Pinnacle Plastic Surgery in Bluffton, throughout the month of October collecting votes from the public. The winner was announced at “Bras & Bubbly,” a finale event that also featured a silent auction of pieces donated by local artists with a breast cancer story of their own to share.

Tilton, one of two principals at the Dewitt Tilton Group commercial construction firm, launched his monthly “Inspire Your Community” podcast earlier this year to share true and inspiring stories of local efforts to improve the community. His hope is that such stories will inspire others to perform random acts of kindness or to be proactive about problem solving in the face of adversity. The Dewitt Tilton Group’s donations to help grow each featured cause have been a part of the podcast since its inception.

“The Bra Project operates on so many immensely beneficial levels,” said Tilton. “It raises money to support local cancer survivors and it gets young people involved in an important issue, all the while tackling a serious subject in a lighthearted and life-affirming way, which is just what we’re looking for with ‘Inspire Your Community.’

The “Inspire Your Community” podcast continues to look for uplifting and inspiring stories from our local community. To nominate a cause of your choice to be featured on the podcast and receive a donation from the Dewitt Tilton Group, email DTG.inspire@gmail.com.

This video podcast can be accessed on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher, and everywhere else podcasts can be found. For further information, contact the Dewitt Tilton Group team at DTG.inspire@gmail.com.

Roush’s Delivery Service, founded in 1973, provides expedited less-than-truckload (LTL) and logistics services. Mike Roush is president of the family-owned firm, and Mike Roush Jr. is its general manager. The company experienced a 400% growth over the past four years, thus demanding physical expansion.

“We have to adapt as our clients’ needs change,” said Mike Roush. “Most of our customers now need project-based work, and our new site will equip us to meet those needs in the most effective manner. Yes, we have grown tremendously, but the reason for this expansion is also to better serve our clients.”

The pre-engineered metal building will include 3,500 square feet of heated and cooled office space. The building is dock-high all the way around, and the office portion will be configured as two stories. Translucent light panels along the front and rear will allow natural light into the warehouse. 12 overhead garage doors that vary in size with edge or pit levelers will accommodate most any truck and its load. There is also a concrete ramp into the building from parking level as another means of access for receiving or delivering goods.

“Mike and I were buddies in grade school and high school,” Chris Tilton, one of the principals at Dewitt Tilton, said of the younger Roush. “Who would have thought, back when we were at Benedictine, that we would one day be working together on a $2 million construction project? We appreciate all of our clients, but it is really fun to work with old friends.”

Principal of Dewitt Tilton Group Launches “Inspire Your Community” Podcast to Do Just That

Principal of Dewitt Tilton Group Launches “Inspire Your Community” Podcast to Do Just That

(SAVANNAH, GA) Chris Tilton, one of two principals at the Dewitt Tilton Groupcommercial construction firm, has launched a monthly podcast featuring local stories of inspiration, kindness and positivity, and the company will reward people who help find those stories with a $300 donation to the cause of the nominator’s choice.

A small, heartwarming true story was the spark for “Inspire Your Community Podcast,” Tilton said.

Dewitt Tilton Group Inspire Podcast

“I heard about this guy who was dropping his daughter off at daycare one morning, just something lots of us do every day, and he noticed that the swing on the playground was broken. He didn’t complain about it to the daycare manager; he didn’t ignore the problem. Instead, the following Saturday, on his day off, he drove over and fixed the swing,” said Tilton. “Not a big thing, just seeing a problem and doing something about it.”

Such simple but true stories, Tilton thought, could inspire others to perform random acts of kindness or to act instead of complaining. His response is to launch a monthly podcast to tell true, inspiring stories suggested by members of the community. To encourage people to come forward with stories, the Dewitt Tilton Groupwill donate $300 to the cause of the successful nominator’s choice.

To submit story ideas, email dtg.inspire@gmail.com. One story will be selected each month to be the subject of the podcast, and the nominator of that story will be given the opportunity to designate a charity to receive a $300 donation.

“There are lots of inspirational stories out there, and we hope people will come forward to let us help share them,” Tilton said. “We’re starting now, so we need to hear from people. This is one small way we can all help counteract hate and negativity in the world.”

The podcast can be accessed at YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher, and everywhere else podcasts can be found. View the first episode here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EgdS0dh9UY.

“We chose the Dewitt Tilton Groupbecause we know they’ll be able to handle the challenges of a complicated and demanding design-build,” added Sharma. “They can navigate through the myriad of local code and other red tape issues to help the process go smoothly and efficiently.”

The construction of the new center is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2019. The center is located at 4317 Ogeechee Road, Savannah, GA 31405.

Workshop and Luncheon Explained the Critical Steps to Starting a Commercial Construction Project

Workshop and Luncheon Explained the Critical Steps to Starting a Commercial Construction Project
Presentation held by The Dewitt Tilton Group

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Dewitt Tilton Group hosted luncheon workshop at the Savannah Golf Club, presenting “From Buying the Dirt to Obtaining the Permit: The Critical Steps to Starting a Commercial Construction Project.”

Kim Thomas, director of operations for the Dewitt Tilton Group discussed the permitting process and zoning regulations, and Chris Tilton, president and co-founder of the Dewitt Tilton Group, spoke on selecting the perfect location for a project and what unexpected road bumps you might encounter when you find it.

“Unforeseen site work to prepare the land for building is easily the most troublesome issue among our clients,” said Tilton, “It’s important to look at a lot holistically, rather than focusing on its price per acre. Purchasing land without considering the quality of the dirt already on it, for example, can be an enormous oversight.”

Tilton also talked about how crucial it is to be aware of details such as how flood zones will affect building codes, the presence of zoning laws and local regulations and whether the lot has existing access to utilities, all of which can significantly delay construction projects if they catch buyers off-guard.

“We wanted to share some of the lessons our years of experience have taught us about commercial construction,” said Tilton, “For example, it’s easy for people to fall into the trap of believing they have found a great deal purchasing land, only to incur huge setbacks when faced with site work and permitting. Buying land for commercial construction is a big investment, so we want to provide prospective buyers with the resources they need to make informed decisions that will benefit them in the long run.”

For more information on the luncheon or on commercial construction, call (912) 777-3404 or visit http://www.dewitttiltongroup.com/.

Chris Tilton of Dewitt Tilton Group Attains Unlimited Contractor’s License in South Carolina

Chris Tilton of Dewitt Tilton Group Attains Unlimited Contractor’s License in South Carolina

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Savannah-based Dewitt Tilton Group has announced that company president and co-founder Chris Tilton has attained the South Carolina Unlimited Building Contractor’s license.

Although Tilton was previously licensed by National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies to work in Georgia and South Carolina, the unlimited license allows his company to take on a greater scope of commercial projects in the Palmetto State, as well as other types of building construction. It also allows Tilton access to take a business law exam in 26 different states for licensing.

Chris Tilton

Chris Tilton, Dewitt Tilton Group, a Commercial Construction Company

“This certification means a great deal to me because my love for construction was born in South Carolina,” Tilton said. “The Lowcountry is an important place in my past, and it is a big part of my future.”

“When I was a child, we lived on Dove Street in the North Forest Beach area of Hilton Head Island, which was still a small, rural place,” Tilton said. “My dad was a South Carolina Lowcountry homebuilder and one of only three builders on the island back in the 1960s. From a very young age, I was often at the side of my father’s trim carpenter, learning the business as a hands-on helper.”

When Tilton moved to Savannah, he and his future business partner, Andrew Dewitt, became high school friends. They would later found the company that bears their names after seeing the need for a Savannah firm that would focus on new commercial construction and could manage every aspect of a project from pre-construction through completion.

Tilton is a licensed general contractor in Georgia and South Carolina and is a Georgia registered real estate appraiser. Andrew Dewitt carries certifications as a real estate appraiser in Georgia and South Carolina and is a member of the Savannah Board of Realtors. Together, they have more than 50 years of experience in the local construction industry.

Jeff’s Beverage Hired The Dewitt Tilton Group to Build New 12,304-Square-Foot Facility

Jeff’s Beverage Hired The Dewitt Tilton Group to Build New 12,304-Square-Foot Facility
Groundbreaking Ceremony on New Project in Richmond Hill Held Dec. 19

(RICHMOND HILL, GA) Jeff’s Beverage is building a new 12,304-square-foot store for the Richmond Hill area. The groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m. at 3945 Hwy 17 in Richmond Hill.

Jeff’s Beverage will occupy 8,104 sq.ft. of the new building with the remaining 4,200 sq.ft. of space available for lease. “This building is directly located on Highway 17 in very close proximity to Interstate 95 with excellent road frontage, visibility, high traffic counts and is easily accessible from the highway,” said Kathy Nielsen, who owns the store with her son, Jeff. “The building has been designed for a multitude of occupants and we are looking for the perfect business to attract local residents as well as those traveling north and south on I-95.”

Jeff’s Beverage will have an open floor plan with a humidor, custom coolers and storage along with office space, restrooms and a private second story conference room. The space available for leasing will remain unfinished for a future tenant.

“With this new facility, we are expecting to bring new inventory, new jobs and economic growth to one of the Southeast’s largest wine, beer and spirits stores,” continued Nielsen.

The company’s co-owner and founder, Jeff began working in the alcohol industry while in college before deciding he wanted to “start his own.” With the help of his parents, his business idea became reality. “We are still growing and going strong after 17 years now,” said Nielsen, “We believe a big contributing factor to our success is how involved Jeff and I are in the day-to-day operations, as well as the support we’ve received from the great community of Richmond Hill and surrounding areas.”

The Dewitt Tilton Group of Savannah will begin construction immediately, and the project is scheduled to be completed in July 2018.

“We’re really excited about this project,” said Chris Tilton, co-owner of The Dewitt Tilton Group. “It is important to us to create a building that suited the brand of Jeff’s Beverage.”

How to Protect Construction Sites during Hurricane Season

How to Protect Construction Sites during Hurricane Season

By Chris Tilton, co-founder, Dewitt Tilton Group

Hurricane Irma is probably a memory to most, but hurricane season lasts until November 30, and for builders, the weather plays a major role in any construction plan.

If you have not already done so, now is the time to put a hurricane safety plan into place for any construction site. Having a clear strategy ready to go reduces the risk of unnecessary damage, helps prevent injuries on the site and gives you peace of mind.

Let’s start with the basics.

A hurricane watch is issued when a storm is expected to arrive within 48 hours, and a warning is issued when tropical storm conditions are within 36 hours. When a hurricane watch is announced, it’s time to put your plan in place and prepare the construction site.

Steps for Creating a Contingency Plan
The first step is to create a checklist for areas and equipment in need of protection. This list will most likely include tools, heavy equipment, generators, fuel tanks, portable toilets and other materials that cannot be moved to an inside location. Be sure each item on the check list is assigned to a specific member of the team and take time to review the checklist prior to any potential threats.

Your contingency plan should also include a communications piece. In addition to notifying your on-site team, subcontractors should be notified that the site is halting all work until further notice.

Planning for large amounts of water is key to any plan. Heavy rains and flooding are leading causes of damage to construction sites. It is imperative that any construction site is equipped with permanent and temporary drainage systems to maintain the structural stability of the area.

If there are vehicles on the site, they should be moved to higher ground and away from structures that could be damaged. Plus, consider filling the tanks on these vehicles prior to any hurricane or storm.

One of the last but most crucial steps is to turn off access points for all utilities. Now is also the time to remove any project documents from the construction trailer and secure them to an offsite location. As you leave the site, snap a few photos on your phone for future reference. These may come in handy if any items are missing or damaged after the fact.

After Effects
Any good contingency plan will include necessary steps for clean-up and getting back in business after a hurricane. Once you return to the site, assess and document any damage, giving special attention to downed power lines, unstable structures or wet electrical panels. Items to have on hand include cleaning supplies and fuel for vehicles. Finally contact the appropriate utilities and contact your insurance carrier for any assessment needs.

It’s important that all construction companies have a written hurricane preparation plan. Ideally, the plan will be detailed with specific assignments and action deadlines. And during hurricane season, be sure to monitor the weather on a regular basis.

This type of preparation does require added cost, effort and time but can be extremely valuable in the long run and may be your best investment. If construction managers follow these outlined steps and provide clear communication, any site will be up and running considerably quicker and suffer much less loss.

Commercial Construction: Workload Rising, Workforce Declining. Inspiring Young Americans to Choose a Career in Commercial Construction

Commercial Construction: Workload Rising, Workforce Declining. Inspiring Young Americans to Choose a Career in Commercial Construction
By Chris Tilton

Chris Tilton

Chris Tilton, Dewitt Tilton Group, a Commercial Construction Company

There’s been a lot of talk recently about how automation may soon replace people in the workforce in areas from transportation to financial sectors and others. Some academic counselors are even advising students not to pursue certain fields of study once thought to be sure bets for good future employment because a job may not be waiting for them when they get out of school.

One exception is the commercial construction industry.

Although it has benefited from many advancements in robotics, the commercial construction industry still needs skilled tradespeople to fill positions now and into the future. They include, among others, carpenters and concrete mixers, crew leaders and office managers with an immediate and ongoing need for qualified workers from entry level to management.

But the industry workforce is not growing as it should, so its leaders must do a better job of inspiring young people to seek careers in commercial construction.

Since the end of the 2008 recession, the workload has been steadily rising, but the workforce has failed to keep pace with qualified applicants needed for mid-level management positions and skilled labor jobs.

A recent study by the Associated General Contractors of America found that 73 percent of construction firms in the U.S. plan to expand their payrolls this year to meet project demands, but those surveyed also expressed concerns about the availability of qualified workers to fill those positions.

Europe is experiencing similar issues. According to a recent report in the United Kingdom’s Daily Telegraph, the construction industry will create nearly 200,000 new jobs over the next five years as demand for new homes fuels a boom in the sector.

So why is there such a large gap in the construction workforce? There are a number of reasons. Those who are in the profession are getting older and many mid-level professionals left during the recession to pursue other careers. Our industry must do more to retain the workers we have and lure back those who left, such as offering incentives like project completion bonuses.

But the big problem is that too few young people are pursuing construction jobs out of high school or college. That’s partly because the construction sector has an image problem and millennials tend to view the industry as old fashioned and not very dynamic. They also want security and variety in their careers and want to be challenged and valued.

So the construction industry has work to do to convince millennials of the value of working in construction. In reality, it has something for virtually everyone, from project management to 3D design and modeling, historic preservation, masonry, carpentry and more.

If we want to attract graduate-level talent from our colleges and universities, we need to change perceptions of our industry. As an example, a study by the National Association of Home Builders found that only three percent of young adults were interested in construction trades, citing the physical demands of difficult work as deterrents.

They also generally underestimated the financial benefits of a career in the construction trades. While it’s only one piece of the total employment package, competitive compensation is important. Normally, base salary is determined by the scope of the employee’s responsibilities, qualifications and years of experience. Construction workers earn an average salary of $31,910 per year. The average salary for a construction manager is $73,087 per year. Most companies offer a variety of programs that expand upon your benefits and compensation package too, and this information needs to be shared with our young workforce.

We should work closely with academic and technical colleges, as well as high schools, to provide information about the benefits of a career in commercial construction and its promising future. We should also offer more internships and apprenticeships that encourage young people to try construction and gain work experience while they learn a skill. By working with educators, we can help them define and streamline their programs to better focus on developing skill sets that are critically needed in the commercial construction industry.

Five Ways to Navigate Zoning Regulations

Five Ways to Navigate Zoning Regulations
By Kim Thomas of The Dewitt Tilton Group

If you’ve ever seen one of those yellow signs posted on a building or empty lot announcing a zoning change petition, you probably know the property owner or potential owner wants to build something new or alter the current building’s purpose and must first seek permission from the governing municipality to rezone the lot.

While zoning issues are unlikely to affect most people in their lifetimes, they can be a complicated and lengthy process for a zoning petitioner.

Zoning is defined as a power granted to municipalities by the state to promote public health, safety and general welfare and to protect and preserve areas of historical, cultural or architectural significance. The land is divided into separate districts within which uses are permitted, prohibited or permitted with conditions.

Zoning ordinances are put in place by the local municipality to help protect residents and guide commercial growth of the community in positive ways. Therefore, business owners who are thinking about buying, developing or altering a property need to become familiar with the basics of zoning and how those rules could impact their plans, budgets and timelines.

Here are five ways to better navigate the zoning process:

1. Before starting the search for a property, ask your real estate adviser to help identify how areas of the community are zoned and what parcels are best suited for your business location. If possible, look for a property already zoned for your type of business. Your real estate adviser can play a huge role in helping to find zoning that meets your requirements.

2. If you find a property you’d like to consider but is zoned differently from your needs, consult with your real estate advisor, land attorney, civil engineer or contractor of record to determine whether the local municipality might consider a petition for rezoning.

For example, if you’re looking at a piece of land for an industrial business and the parcel is outside an industrial park but touches it, the local planning commission is more likely to consider rezoning the parcel than if it is adjacent to non-industrial areas.

3. If the property you wish to purchase must be rezoned for your commercial needs, start the process by visiting the local government where the parcel is located. Invite your land attorney, civil engineer or contractor of record to join you or represent you. Navigating zoning procedures can be overwhelming for those who are not industry professionals.

4. Be aware of special circumstances. For example, if the property is in Savannah’s Historic District, your first stop should be at the Historic District Board of Review because they must approve your preliminary concept before you can take any other step in the zoning process. Again, your industry professional can help you determine whether your property is in an area where special circumstances need to be considered.

5. Try to become familiar with zoning terms such as your desired property’s zoning designation and parcel identification number (PIN) as well as how the zoning process works in your community.

For example, the Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission maintains authoritative zoning ordinances for Chatham County and working zoning ordinances for the city of Savannah. Over the past few years, both governments have been working to update and unify their ordinances, a process known as NewZO (New Zoning Ordinances).

Once your zoning is in place, the next step in the development process is to get permitting underway. This involves submitting your plans to the local planning commission, which will direct them through the appropriate departments for review and approval. As you might expect, the permitting process has its own procedures.

You can view the city of Savannah’s zoning information at http://www.savannahga.gov/index.aspx?NID=1123 and the Savannah Area Geographic Information System (SAGIS) zoning map at http://www.sagis.org/ Zoning ordinances for the city and county are available at http://www.thempc.org/

The Dewitt Tilton Group Donates New BBQ Pit Roof to Savannah Jaycees

The Dewitt Tilton Group Donates New BBQ Pit Roof to Savannah Jaycees

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Dewitt Tilton Group, a commercial construction firm in Savannah, donated their services to the Savannah Jaycees to rebuild a BBQ pit roof that fell during stormy weather. Guerry Lumber, a Lumber Company that has served Savannah since 1927, and ABC Supply, the largest wholesale distributor of roofing in the United States, have also donated materials to the project.

The Jaycees include young business professionals dedicated to leadership growth through community involvement. As the only Jaycees chapter in the state with their own office, the Savannah Jaycees use their building for meetings, events and leadership speakers.

The BBQ pit roof often serves as an outdoor shelter for the group’s community activities, such as the Surging Forward Picnic, which was held for first responders and firefighters during Hurricane Matthew cleanup.

Since it was damaged by the hurricane and the storms this spring, the Jaycees have been unable to reassemble and secure the roof. So The Dewitt Tilton group reached out to them and offered to rebuild and install a new roof.

“I have seen the culture of altruistic service and progressive thinking the Savannah Jaycees promotes in our community,” said Dewitt Tilton partner Chris Tilton. “They give so much to Savannah, so when the opportunity presented itself to give back to their group, we jumped on it.”

Jaycees president Cynthia Wright said the roof could not have been reinstalled without help.

“We are so thankful that the Dewitt Tilton Group saw our need and chose to show their support for our organization with a project that will serve us both now and in the future,” Wright said.

Preciball USA Holds Grand Opening of New Distribution Center in Pooler

Preciball USA Holds Grand Opening of New Distribution Center in Pooler

(POOLER, GA) Preciball USA hosted the grand opening of its almost 40,000 square ft, North American distribution center. A grand opening reception was held at the facility in the Westside Business Park on U.S. Hwy. 80 in Pooler, just west of Savannah.

Preciball, the world leader in the manufacture and supply of industrial ball bearing products, engaged the Dewitt Tilton Group of Savannah to build the new facility near the Port of Savannah at the Westside Business Park. After the ribbon cutting, guests were invited to tour the new facility.

“We are excited about showing off our new building, which was thoughtfully designed and constructed with energy efficient features and effective land use,” said Don Peak, Vice President of Preciball USA, Inc. “It has a number of unique aspects in that it provides this flexible space and is adaptable to Preciball’s rapidly expanding growth. The interior of the building was designed by my partner, Elizabeth Hancock, and finished in such a way as to preserve the industrial-modern feel of our business and accommodate future staffing additions.”

Chris Tilton, President and co-founder of Dewitt Tilton Group, said his firm is honored that Preciball selected them for the project.

“One of the more interesting aspects of this project was placing the building on a very challenging site, but we were able to come up with a design that fits well in the space and works well with high-volume truck traffic,” Tilton said. “The exposed ductwork and spiral staircase leading to the second floor really gives the space a feel of a New York City industrial loft. We also designed the building with translucent paneling throughout to optimize natural lighting.”

Dewitt Tilton Group was honored with Star Building Systems’ Master Builder Award for its Preciball project. This award recognizes member builders for excellence in design and construction. The Best of the District Award for the Mid-South District went to Dewitt Tilton Group at Star’s 2017 National Meeting.

The structure itself incorporates office suites and warehouse space. Preciball occupies about half of the facility; the remaining space is leased by two other businesses. Key features include the building’s high-efficiency warehouse lighting and HVAC equipment, as well as dock-high loading doors and dock levelers. The warehouse space has wide clear-span truss construction.

From its Savannah distribution center, Preciball provides products manufactured all over the world to customers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, which made the company’s proximity to Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport, the Georgia Port, interstates I-95 and I-16 a key factor in the company’s decision to select the Pooler site.

Preciball USA Announces Grand Opening of New Distribution Center in Pooler

(SAVANNAH, GA) Preciball USA announces it will host the grand opening of its almost 40,000 square ft, North American distribution center. A grand opening reception will be held at the facility on Tuesday, April 11, at 11 a.m. in the Westside Business Park on U.S. Hwy. 80 in Pooler, just west of Savannah.

Preciball, the world leader in the manufacture and supply of industrial ball bearing products, engaged the Dewitt Tilton Group of Savannah to build the new facility near the Port of Savannah at the Westside Business Park. After the ribbon cutting, guests will be invited to tour the new facility.

“We are excited about showing off our new building, which was thoughtfully designed and constructed with energy efficient features and effective land use,” said Don Peak, general manager for Preciball USA. “It has a number of unique aspects in that it provides this flexible space and is adaptable to Preciball’s rapidly expanding growth.”

The structure itself incorporates office suites and warehouse space. Preciball will occupy about half of the facility; the remaining space has already been leased by two other businesses.
