Enmarket Employees Get Pay Boost, Additional Safety Measures

(SAVANNAH, GA) As an essential business selling fuel, grocery items and prepared foods, Enmarket’s stores across a three-state region continue to remain open to serve the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, those employees are receiving a temporary pay boost of $2.50 an hour, reflecting the importance of their role during this crisis, and the chain also will install plexiglass shields at its checkout counters as further protection for employees and customers.

The installation of the plexiglass shields, also known as “sneeze guards,” is expected to begin Monday and will include all of Enmarket’s stores, which are located in Georgia and the Carolinas.

The measures come in addition to health and safety measures already implemented throughout the chain, which is the 49th largest in the country. Those measures include the suspension of the sale of self-service food, like hotdogs and frozen yogurt, along with increased cleaning and sanitizing. The Eatery, Enmarket’s in-store food preparation operation, continues to prepare food under controlled sanitary conditions, but service is now limited to to-go orders, with use of dining tables on premises suspended.

“We wanted some tangible way to express to our employees how much we — and the shopping public —appreciate their efforts during this extraordinary time,” said Brett Giesick, president of Enmarket, which is based in Savannah. “Nothing is more tangible to an employee than their paycheck, so for the next three weeks, each hourly employee’s wage will be increased by $2.50 an hour.”

Salaried employees, who are eligible for bonuses as part of their compensation package, will be guaranteed 100% payout of their March and April bonuses.

Hourly Enmarket employees will receive a one-time check equivalent to $2.50 per hour for all hours worked from March 26 through April 15. This will include field technicians and other hourly team members that work in the field to support multiple stores.

The plexiglass shields will become a new icon of the current pandemic. Walmart, Kroger and other major retailers who are open for essential services during the crisis have begun to install the barriers to limit exposure between customers and cashiers during the check-out process. Enmarket is one of the first convenience store chains that has committed to installing them at every location.

“These shields will provide an additional level of safety for our employees,” Giesick said. “We will be moving as quickly as possible to get them in place at each of our checkout locations.”

Meanwhile, Enmarket’s adoption of self-checkout technology in 2019 is proving its value during the current pandemic. For example, Skip Frictionless Checkout enables users to check out on their phones, without direct interaction with a cashier.

Enmarket Announces Latest Acquisition of Bryan County Store, Zip-In Foods

(RICHMOND HILL, GA) Enmarket, the largest and fastest-growing convenience store operator based in the coastal Georgia and South Carolina Lowcountry region, has acquired the former Zip-In Foods near Fort McAllister State Park. The store is the 125th Enmarket location overall and its second in Bryan County.

“Our customers have been asking us to add an additional Richmond Hill location to serve this side of the county,” said Brett Giesick, president of Enmarket. “This acquisition makes it possible for us to expand in that market very quickly. The site will receive a significant remodel in 2020 so that we can integrate all of our programs into the store.”

The store is located at 15163 Georgia Highway 144, at the highway’s intersection with Fort McAllister Road, and will serve visitors of Fort McAllister State Park and its associated boat ramp, as well as the growing residential population in and around Richmond Hill.

Giesick described the new location as a strategic one for Enmarket and noted that the remodeled location will retain the popular foodservice operation that local residents have enjoyed for years.

Cinnamon Bear Stores Announces Winners of ‘Red, Write and Thank You Christmas Contest

Cinnamon Bear Stores Announces Winners of ‘Red, Write and Thank You Christmas Contest

One Family Taking New York City Christmas Trip Before Deployment

(SAVANNAH, GA) Ki Ventura, a fourth grader from Waldo Pafford Elementary School has won a writing contest sponsored by Cinnamon Bear Stores for military children and their families to win a trip to New York City.

A panel of judges consisting of the Cinnamon Bears leadership team, principal and vice principal at a local school and one respected English teacher selected Ki from among more than 50 entrants to win the two-day, one-night trip to New York City, $500 spending money and tickets to The Lion King musical.

The ‘Red, Write and Thank You Christmas Contest’ was open to children ages 6 to 12 who have a family member who will be deployed during the holiday season.

The children’s hand-written essays were submitted on one of the following topics: “I’m proud of my parent, grandparent, sibling because…”; “I would like to win this NY Christmas Trip because…”; “Christmas in the USA is special to me because…”.

“All of the contest entries we received were ‘wows,’ and it was increasingly difficult to choose a winner, which is why we formed the panel,” said Michael Snaid, co-owner of the Cinnamon Bear Stores. “Ki’s essay talked about his family history in the military and how he wants to honor that history. It was very moving.”

Gaby Kenard, a second grader from Savannah, placed second and received a $100 gift certificate to the Cinnamon Bear Stores. Jackson Daniel, a fifth grader from Fort Stewart, placed third and received a $50 gift certificate.

Ki and his parents will leave for New York on Dec. 10 from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.

Peacock Automotive Rebrands New River Auto Mall to Peacock Auto Mall in Celebration of 15th Anniversary

Peacock Automotive Rebrands New River Auto Mall to Peacock Auto Mall in Celebration of 15th Anniversary

(JASPER COUNTY, S.C.) Peacock Automotive has announced a change in branding to reflect its commitment to bringing top car lines to the Lowcountry.

The former New River Auto Mall, established in 2002, now will be doing business as “Peacock Auto Mall.”

The automobile retailer’s new name and logo were released during an unveiling event on Thursday, Sept. 7. The exterior rebranding was recently completed on U.S. 278 just outside Bluffton, S.C.

“We were excited to celebrate our fifteenth anniversary this year and wanted to celebrate in a very special way,” said Warner Peacock, president and CEO of Peacock Automotive. “The rebranding of Peacock Auto Mall now associates the family name with the property along with showing the connections to our other dealerships.”

As part of the changeover, the company has changed the look associated with the brand, Peacock said.

“We softened up the logo and made some color modifications that better represent the current identity of our company,” he said. “We also added a silhouette of a car to evoke the sense of excitement you feel when test driving the inventory at our dealerships.”

Peacock Auto Mall covers 45 acres on U.S. 278, five miles east of Interstate 95 at Exit 8 in South Carolina. It employs approximately 330 people and features 13 brands, including Audi, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Genesis, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Porsche, Ram, Subaru and Volkswagen.

Peacock Automotive also owns and operates dealerships in Savannah, Ga., Columbia, S.C., and Orlando, Fla., as well as the New River Wellness Institute and the NRAM Collision Center.

During Thursday’s unveiling, Peacock Auto Mall and the American Heart Association unveiled the “Midsummer Night’s Dream” theme for the 21st Annual Heart Ball of the Southern Coast. Audi Hilton Head is the Legacy Sponsor for the Heart Ball, which will be held on Feb. 5 with 400 guests expected. For more information on the Heart Ball, visit www.southerncoastheartball.org.

Peacock Auto Mall and the American Heart Association also collected heart-healthy food donations, as well as hurricane preparation materials, for Bluffton Self Help. Located at 39 Sheridan Park Circle in Bluffton, the non-profit provides a variety of services such as short-term emergency financial assistance. In 2016, the organization served more than 10,000 people and provided approximately $125,000 to 355 families for short-term emergency assistance. During the past two decades, The Cinnamon Bear Stores has become a frequent stop for families vacationing along the Georgia, South Carolina and northern Florida coasts with locations at Harbour Town on Hilton Head, City Market and River Street in Savannah and at Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island.

Michael Snaid, co-owner of the stores, said, “Expanding to serve visitors in another area of Savannah with this new destination location offering more upscale merchandise is very different for our company. During our soft opening, we’ve experienced a great response from the community, and we are excited to see what the future will hold for this location.”

The Cinnamon Bear will also offer a 15 percent discount during the grand opening day to those with a valid military ID.

“This grand opening gives us an opportunity to support and recognize not only the sacrifices of our service members but of their families as well,” said Snaid. “We feel blessed and proud to be Americans, and every day, we meet so many wonderful people from the U.S. and abroad. It’s important to our family that through our company we can help a charity that links us to real people making real sacrifices.”

All customers will have an opportunity to pop a balloon to receive a surprise discount; prizes range from 10 percent to 100 percent off the gift purchase. Locally Owned Savannah Mall Store Announces Grand Re-Opening Event

Sweet Southern Sass invites the community to Ice Princess Party

(Savannah, GA) Sweet Southern Sass, formerly known as Lydene’s Gifts and Collectibles, is on the move. The store, which has been a Savannah Mall fixture for more than a decade, is moving to center court, and has also been renamed to reflect its expanded line of merchandise. The public is invited to the grand opening celebration of Sweet Southern Sass on Saturday, February 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A ribbon cutting will kick off the celebration at 10 a.m.

“All of the characters from a very popular children’s animated movie will be there, including the Ice Princess and her sister, plus their favorite snowman,” said owner Lydene Fiocca. “We plan to have many other similar family-fun events in the coming months at both of our Savannah Mall stores.”

Some of the new lines of boutique merchandise, including trendy t-shirts along with women’s clothing and jewelry, feature the Simply Southern® collection, Ginger Snaps™ jewelry and Lily Grace tees. The store is also carrying Fripp and Folly™ tees for men.

Fiocca’s other store, Southern Sass, is being renamed “Sweet Southern Sass Too” and will soon feature kids-only merchandise. Fiocca is moving all of the store’s current adult clothing lines to the larger Sweet Southern Sass store, located directly across the Mall’s center court.

“In addition to several lines of children’s tees, clothes and accessories, Sweet Southern Sass Too will feature a stage for character appearances and for kids to come up for some karaoke sing-alongs,” explained Fiocca. “In the future, we’ll be hosting special snow day events featuring the characters in a space decorated like an ice castle.”

For more information, call Lydene Fiocca at 912-925-1800 or visit the Sassy Southern Kids Facebook page.

ABOUT SWEET SOUTHERN SASS AND SWEET SOUTHERN SASS TOO
Savannah native Lydene Fiocca opened Lydene’s Gifts and Collectibles in Garden City, Ga. one week before the terror attacks of September 2001. Afraid the business might not survive, Fiocca opened a temporary store at Savannah Mall to attract attention. The response was so overwhelming she decided to stay on at the Mall. She later added a second store, Southern Sass, which carried men’s tees along with women’s and children’s clothing. In 2015, Lydene’s Gifts and Collectibles was renamed Sweet Southern Sass, and moved to a larger space near the Mall’s center court. The new store features women’s clothing, jewelry, gifts and collectibles, while Southern Sass was renamed Sweet Southern Sass Too and now exclusively carries children’s merchandise including Mud Pie®, Missy’s Prissy’s, Mustard Pie and Feltman Brothers®. The mission of both stores is to make customers feel like family. They are located directly across from each other on the lower level near the center court of Savannah Mall. Store hours are 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. For more information, call Lydene Fiocca at 912-925-1800 or visit the Sassy Southern Kids Facebook page.

Rivers & Glen Trading Co. Announce New General Manager for Savannah Store

(SAVANNAH, GA) Rivers & Glen Trading Co. announces it has appointed Bryan H. O’Dell as General Manager of its new Savannah store, located at 24 Drayton St. This is the second location for the Augusta-based sporting retailer.

Prior to joining Rivers and Glen, O’Dell worked in the shipping industry for 20 years in the ports of Charleston and Savannah. But the opportunity to join a locally–based company providing anglers with clothing, equipment, education and destination fishing trips was the perfect lure to switch careers, and O’Dell took the bite.

“I enjoy working with people who are interested in fishing from the first-time beginner to the professional looking for that record catch,” said O’Dell. “I am excited to be involved with helping revive the art of fly fishing in Georgia, and I look forward to offering lessons, tying workshops and other educational opportunities to Savannah area anglers.”

“Bryan is such a good fit for the Savannah store and an asset to our team,” said Walker Hopkins, owner of Rivers & Glen Trading Co. “Like me, he grew up in a small town and has been an avid fisherman all of his life. He understands the art and beauty of fly fishing, and knows the coastal waters here like the back of his hand.”

O’Dell attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC and the College of Charleston, where he studied Intermodal Transportation. He serves on the Board of the Savannah Yacht Club and is Chair of the Power Boat Committee. The native of Sullivan’s Island, SC, enjoys fishing in his leisure time. For more information, call the Savannah branch of Rivers & Glen Trading Co. at 912.349.2352 or visit riversandglen.com.
