Pooler Parkway Location is Enmarket’s Largest Newly Built Store

(POOLER, GA) Enmarket, a Savannah-based chain of convenience stores, built a new 6,366-square-foot store on Pooler Parkway across the street from the soon-to-open St. Joseph’s/CandlerPooler Campus.

The store, which offers 20 fueling stations and an electronic vehicle charging station, is Enmarket’s third in Pooler but its first on Pooler Parkway. The two others are on Highway 80.

The new store features the chain’s first drive-through window, serving fresh food and beverages from Enmarket’s proprietary restaurant, The Eatery. It also features touchless restrooms, exposed ceilings, spacious parking and outdoor seating.

Some features are invisible to customers but will contribute to better service, such things as a redesigned and more efficient kitchen and an improved vendor receiving area. Progressive Builderswas the general contractor for the project.

The new store is part of an Enmarketexpansion plan that includes the rebuild of the existing store on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in downtown Savannah, a new headquarters complex that will include the rebuild of the Enmarketon U.S. 17 at Chatham Parkway and a future store in Port Wentworth.

Enmarketcurrently operates 124 convenience stores and 14 quick-serve restaurants with more than 1,200 employees in Georgia and North and South Carolina.

Bishop Hartmayer blesses Corpus Christi worship space

More than 300 people filled the worship space in the multi-purpose building for the blessing of the long awaited home for the Catholic Communty in Pooler.

In 2015, Fr. Gabe Cummings of St. Frances Cabriniand Barbara Goodwin began searching for a temporary location where a weekly Mass could be celebrated in Pooler. The Reverend David Wesley Lemburg, pastor of Saint Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Pooler, opened its doors to the Catholic community and became the place where the faithful would gather.

Father Thomas J. Murphy, the pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes, Port Wentworth, was appointed by Bishop Hartmayer to establish the new community. The first Catholic Mass was offered on May 2, 2015 with a standing-room-only crowd. The group was named the Pooler Catholic Community.

After initiating a capital campaign under the leadership of co-chairs Barbara Goodwin and Dozier Cook, the members of the Pooler Catholic Communityraised the funds needed to clear ground donated by the Diocese of Savannah, at 1745 Benton Blvd. As plans for a new church were underway, the groundbreaking took place in October 2017.

On the feast of Corpus Christi, June 15, 2016, the Bishop announced that the new church would be named Corpus Christi Catholic Church— the Body of Christ.

The 17,000 square foot multipurpose building will be used for worship, pastoral offices and religious education. Future plans call for a sanctuary to be built at the location.

(SAVANNAH, GA) Livingood’s Appliances and Bedding hosted a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at its new store, located at 1225 East U.S. Hwy 80 in Pooler, Ga. The locally owned company is celebrating 42 years this month.

(RIDGELAND, SC/SAVANNAH, GA) Enmarket, a convenience store chain with operations in three states, has purchased Handy Dan’s in Ridgeland, S.C. Savannah-based Enmarketwill assume operations of Handy Dan’s Gulf station on Thursday, Sept. 20. All operations will continue regularly.

“Our southeastern footprint is expanding rapidly,” said Brett Giesick, Enmarket’s president. “With our recent acquisition of Joker Joe’s and now Handy Dan’s, we’re thrilled to increase our presence along interstate 95 in South Carolina.”

Enmarketplans to remodel the station to feature both hot and cold grab-and-go items prepared fresh in store, including Enmarket’s signature biscuits, fresh doughnuts and pastries.

The store will have an expanded beverage area featuring bean to cup coffee, freshly brewed ice tea, expanded fountain offerings with chewy ice and Chillen’ frozen beverages. A new cooler and beer cave will also be added.
