(SAVANNAH, GA) Enmarket and Healthy Savannah presented a $1,000 donation to the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) as part of the 2019 Enmarket Encourage Health Education Series.

Enmarket Encourage Health Education Series, Check Presentation to Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society

Volunteers from Healthy Savannah and Enmarket, Savannah’s largest and fastest-growing convenience store chain, also attended the 14th Annual LDSS Buddy Walk® in Forsyth Park to help set up, to work the festival and food stations following the walk and to clean up after the event.

Proceeds from the annual Buddy Walk benefit the local leadership, support, outreach, education and advocacy programs LDSS runs throughout the year to support people with Down syndrome, their families, and caregivers. This year, Buddy Walk offered healthy lunch options such as grilled chicken, fruit and vegetables to honor its commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles among children and adults with Down syndrome.

“The addition of a service day has brought a whole new dimension to the way we show our gratitude toward organizations like LDSS,” said Brett Giesick, president of Enmarket. “We so enjoyed connecting and celebrating with the families and the strong community LDSS has helped create in the Lowcountry.”

Enmarket and Healthy Savannah presented the check to LDSS during the fourth and final lecture of the 2019 Encourage Health Education Series. The presentation was given by Katie Balthrop, sport science professional and founder of Savannah Sport and Wellness, on the benefits of strength training at any age.

This marks the sixth year for the Enmarket Encourage Health Education Series, sponsored by Healthy Savannah, St. Joseph’s/Candler, Clover Health, Sandfly Family Dental, the Charles H. Morris Center at Trustees’ Garden, Cha Bella, David’s Dry Cleaners, the City of Savannah, Savannah Morning News, Savannah Magazine and WRHQ

“Inspire Your Community” Podcast Supports The Bra Project

“Inspire Your Community” Podcast Supports The Bra Project

(SAVANNAH, GA, and BLUFFTON/BEAUFORT, SC) “Inspire Your Community,” a philanthropic podcast series launched by Chris Tilton of the Dewitt Tilton Group, will turn its spotlight and its $1,000 donation to The Bra Project this October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

DSC_7046 (1)

The Bra Project is sponsored by the Pinnacle Medical Group to benefit DragonBoat Beaufort and its mission to support area cancer survivors. This marks the fifth year in which The Bra Project has invited high school students to custom-design bras for submission in a traveling art show as part of a competition for best-designed bra. Art classes from Hilton Head, May River and Bluffton high schools participated in this year’s Project.

The student-designed bras have been featured in a tour of Beaufort County stores and healthcare facilities, including Pinnacle Plastic Surgery in Bluffton, throughout the month of October collecting votes from the public. The winner was announced at “Bras & Bubbly,” a finale event that also featured a silent auction of pieces donated by local artists with a breast cancer story of their own to share.

Tilton, one of two principals at the Dewitt Tilton Group commercial construction firm, launched his monthly “Inspire Your Community” podcast earlier this year to share true and inspiring stories of local efforts to improve the community. His hope is that such stories will inspire others to perform random acts of kindness or to be proactive about problem solving in the face of adversity. The Dewitt Tilton Group’s donations to help grow each featured cause have been a part of the podcast since its inception.

“The Bra Project operates on so many immensely beneficial levels,” said Tilton. “It raises money to support local cancer survivors and it gets young people involved in an important issue, all the while tackling a serious subject in a lighthearted and life-affirming way, which is just what we’re looking for with ‘Inspire Your Community.’

The “Inspire Your Community” podcast continues to look for uplifting and inspiring stories from our local community. To nominate a cause of your choice to be featured on the podcast and receive a donation from the Dewitt Tilton Group, email DTG.inspire@gmail.com.

This video podcast can be accessed on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher, and everywhere else podcasts can be found. For further information, contact the Dewitt Tilton Group team at DTG.inspire@gmail.com.

Fifth Annual “The Bra Project” Raised Over $5,000 for DragonBoat Beaufort Breast Cancer Survivors

Fifth Annual “The Bra Project” Raised Over $5,000 for DragonBoat Beaufort Breast Cancer Survivors

(BLUFFTON/BEAUFORT, SC) Pinnacle Medical Group presented $5,140 to representatives of DragonBoat Beaufort, a local nonprofit that benefits breast cancer survivors in the lowcountry. The donation was raised from Pinnacle Medical Group’s fifth annual “The Bra Project,” a competition that featured one-of-a-kind bras created by students from Hilton Head High School, May River High School and Bluffton High School.

The bras were featured at the second annual Bras & Bubbly, a charity event hosted by Pinnacle Medical Group designed to rally together the community to raise awareness and funds to support local breast cancer survivors. The event also celebrated the work of local artists who contributed pieces inspired by their own personal stories.

All proceeds raised from Bras & Bubbly ticket sales and the silent auction were donated to DragonBoat Beaufort to assist in their goal of helping cancer patients who live, work or receive treatment in the lowcountry. A local commercial construction firm, The Dewitt Tilton Group, also contributed $1,000 to the project.

“We’re always thrilled to host The Bra Project, and we’re thankful to be a part of such a dedicated community that cares about women’s health and breast cancer awareness as much as we do,” said Dr. Audrey Klenke, plastic surgeon and principal of Pinnacle Medical Group. “Thank you to all who attended Bras & Bubbly and a special thank you to the students and artists who came together to create a stellar event. This year, we raised more this year than all the other four years combined and we are so excited to see what next year brings.”
