Coastal Georgia Council Announces Annual Boy Scout Volunteer Awards

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Coastal Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America recognized outstanding community leaders and volunteers at the annual Silver Beaver Banquet on Saturday, February 22, 2014.

The 2013 Commissioner’s Award was presented to Frank Patterson, while Lanny Rhodes received the President’s Award.   Frank Patterson and Lanny Rhodes were recognized for their outstanding leadership in scouting and for their performance of community service through many years of hard work, self-sacrifice and dedication.

Four individuals received the distinguished ‘Silver Beaver’ award: Alan L. Stewart , Ray Perigard, Robert Missroon, Jr.  and Thomas C. James, Sr.  The Silver Beaver Award is a council-level distinguished service award for registered adult Boy Scout leaders who have made a significant impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council.   Two Venturing youth members were also recognized for their leadership during 2013, Hannah Horton with Venture Crew 1 and Andrew Martinez with Venture Crew 400.

“We are proud to recognize each of these fine individuals who have displayed excellence in leadership and dedicated countless hours helping our area youth,”  said Tom Cardiff, Scout Executive.  “We can’t thank them enough for the many services they perform that allow us to provide quality programs that teach young people the life skills necessary to becoming successful adults. These awards are but small tokens in comparison to the great impact that these and all our fine Boy Scout volunteers and leaders are having in our community every day.”
