That's a serious amount of cash to be raised. Well done. And as this is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, thought I’d pass along an easy way to help raise awareness: check out this short video -- http://www.ahamoment.com/vote/barry -- about the aha moment of father of a child with Down Syndrome who learned what you can do with challenges. If you like his story, click to vote for him, as the top vote getters in the contest will be aha moment TV commercials next year. More media exposure around Down Syndrome awareness would be a very good thing, so spread the word if you can. This round ends tomorrow (Oct 15), so vote early and often!

Thanks,

Marjorie, what can I say! These pups leave a hole in your heart when they go. Our oldest Shih Tzu (age 9) also has a very enlarged heart and a very bad spine and we know she won't live a full life. I'll keep you and Jefferson in my thoughts!

Marjorie, condolences on the loss your beloved dog. I have a little one now and even miss her when I travel for a few days and I know you have a large hole in your spirit house at this time. I wish I could fill it for you but you must do it yourself and only in time. in time.

Do what you can to help these little guys. Fostering animals through the Humane Society can be very rewarding. For some perspective, I invite you to check out this short video -- ahamoment.com/pg/moments/view/4935 -- which tells the story of one Humane Society volunteer's "aha moment" when she realized that fostering animals was the thing that was missing in her life. I think you'll enjoy it.

Thanks,

Here in the UK where of course declawing is banned, it was never, even before the ban, acceptable to have a cat declawed because of young children or elderly adults in the home. Our children are taught from being small,to handle cats gently and with respect and they are supervised until they do.Our cats are trained to scratching posts from being kittens and it's very rare an elderly person is scratched. My own late mother had delicate skin due to steroid treatment and had 4 fully clawed cats which never harmed her, although she was scratched by a neighbour's dog which tore her skin when jumping at her. Many of us here can't believe that declawing is still acceptable in the USA and that a supposed to be last resort procedure according to the AVMA, is done to many kittens routinely, when it is banned or considered extremely inhumane in 35 other countries. In my career as a Veterinary Nurse there was not one single Veterinary surgeon I worked for, who would do the procedure even before it was banned.

Your bottom line is right on target and I can't think of a better time than now for Congress to adopt a revenue-neutral carbon tax such as that proposed by the Carbon Tax Center (www.carbontax.org). As I'm sure you know better than I, businesses need certainty and should value the steady and predictable price trajectory of a gradually increasing revenue-neutral carbon tax.

Without the care of the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, our family would have been devastated by trying to care for my father, Ernest Bernecker. He died at home as he wished thanks to Hospice. I dont know what we would have done without them. Cutting Medicare funds for this valuable service makes no sense... it saved thousands and thousands of dollars that would have been spent had he remained in the hospital. Please don't cut the funds. THIS IS WHAT COMPASSIONATE CONSERVATISM SHOULD BE ABOUT!

Thank you Mr. Yarbrough for spreading the news to get needed items to our Marines. My son is in Charlie Co. of the 1/6, and they have definitely been out in the desert for too long with little chance to receive any care packages. Anything your readership can do means everything to our Marines in the desert and their families waiting for them back home. Cards and letters are a huge morale booster as well. They hear the bad news as much as we do.

Gulls go to a number of different places at night. Some sleep on the water. Some probably go under the pier. Some roost on roofs of nearby buildings. If there are rock ledges nearby, lots of gulls would go there to sleep. Some just go farther down the beach - check the South end of Tybee -away from the crowds, in this case you and Carol :)

Good concept.
But just goofing off might not fly with some...
Thinking...

How about Social Network Fridays?
Social-Net-Work-Fridays... sneaking in the word “work” to appease the latter-day Puritans among us.

Here’s a proven prototype:
A manager with the State said in a 5 day workweek he’d work full-on for 3 days for the State job, 1 day for a charitable cause, and the fifth day for himself, networking, making contacts. Of course the fifth day involved socializing, and the social networking and human engineering served him well in the other areas of his work. Benefits included the mental and physical benefit of R&R, of feeling a part of a higher cause, feeling in control of his life, and feeling like a member of a group.

Give it a go, girl! I will too, although today I must keyboard jockey past sundown, and then next Friday I’m a pseudo-suit in 404-ATL with honchos...
Plan your work, work your plan, this includes Social Network Fridays.

Here’s a plan:
Prepare to proclaim May 2008 as the launch of Fifth Day Freedom; Social Network Fridays will begin in five weeks. We can meet at Forsyth Park for coffee and a chat & stroll. Remember: we lead the nation; they are counting on us to break free and recapture TGIF. Likely, France will express distain. So do it!

# # #

RELEASE
Dateline Savannah, GA
“Savannah Leads Nation in Recognition of Valuable Dynamic Human Interactions, Launches Social Network Friday initiative”

“We’re not gonna take it anymore,” says M. Young.

“Claiming my right to “Fifth Day Freedom” is my heritage and my birthright. This is how Savannah has survived in the past,” says Lowcountry tour guide.

“Our economy can run on auto-pilot on Fridays in the twenty-first century,” says one tech guru, who also added, “Yo, see you in September, oh, wait, I got carried away, see you Monday morning. But I’m going elementally primate on Fridays in Summer 08. I need to talk, not type.”

Hi Marjorie,
Thanks so much for all of your help and being such a fantastic coach! The event last week, was amazing and well needed. As a business entrepreneur, it is so important to plan, brainstorm and utilize all the resources necessary for creating and maintaining business success. The ideas, tips and information on PR and marketing were just excellent. I am currently working on a press release for my new book!
Much success to you and Thanks again!
