Celia Dunn Sotheby’s International Realty gets new web site
All properties in Multi-List are on new site, and phone app gives access to all listings and ability to search properties in several ways.

(SAVANNAH, Ga.) – Celia Dunn Sotheby’s International Realty is now more mobile, thanks to its new web site, www.celiadunnsir.com. The site is now more compatible with smart phones and iPads and faster loading. The site also boasts many other improvements and features to help both buyers and sellers.

All properties for sale in metro Savannah (including Chatham, Effingham, Bryan and more), and Hilton Head and Bluffon, S.C. are now on the site.

There’s also a link to get Sotheby’s International Realty’s new free mobile phone app, which gives people the ability to see all Multi-List listings on their phone, as well as search by GPS, address, city, ZIP code, property type and more. The free app is one of several features from Sotheby’s.

The partnership with Sotheby’s means that sellers have a world of buyers able to see their property. Listings are automatically fed to18 of the most highly trafficked real estate web sites.

“The marketing that we can provide because of our connection with Sotheby’s is tremendous,” said Lori Combs, Director of Sales and Marketing for Celia Dunn Sotheby’s International Realty. “Many people associate Sotheby’s with a price point, but we associate it with the level of customer service that we provide when you list a home with us, no matter the price point.”

The size, crispness, quality and scope of photos on the new site have even drawn compliments from other real estate companies, Combs said. Each home can have an unlimited number of photos on the site.

Standout features such as an outdoor kitchen can be highlighted for each home on the new site, which now lets the sales associates customize the individual amenities in a larger-print, quick-read format next to the more detailed information.

“Our priority is always to offer excellent customer service with integrity,” said Celia Dunn of Celia Dunn Sotheby’s International Realty. “The new web site offers amazing convenience and access to every property for sale in the area. We love being able to help customers and clients find their new home or sell a home so they can buy their new home.”

Open Houses and new listings both have a heading on the new site, making them easy to find. The mortgage calculator is now more accessible on the site.

People moving to Savannah now have convenience features making it easier for the new homebuyer to go online and do a change of address, find out about schools, get a new driver’s license and more. The new web site now also has descriptions of the many communities and neighborhoods to choose from in Savannah and the Low Country.

Buyers can email questions about a listing directly to the sales associate; the email also is copied to management to ensure every question gets a timely response.

Known for its tradition of integrity, Celia Dunn Sotheby’s International Realty specializes in residential and commercial properties in Savannah and the Low Country of Georgia and South Carolina. Founded in 1981, Celia Dunn Sotheby’s International Realty is noted for outstanding service to its clients, thorough knowledge of Savannah and the South Carolina Low Country, and excellent staff, in addition to having one of the region’s top property management departments. Coastal Georgia Mystery Author Larry Peterson announces His new novel, Last Days of the Coastal Empire

Posted by mysavannah on August 27, 2012

Murder, political intrigue

And committing journalism

Contact: Larry Peterson, (912)786-0498, lpeterson301@comcast.net

They tell you in school to write about what you know.  Savannah Morning News reporter and columnist Larry Peterson has taken that to heart. His second novel, Last Days of the Coastal Empire, is a tale about newspapering, politics, Savannah and nearby Tybee Island.

His protagonist, political reporter Mike Taylor has been there, done that.  He likes to take names and kick ass. He’s won awards, but his favorite trophies are the scalps of crooked or just plain stupid politicians. Starting a new job at the Clarion in Savannah, Taylor hopes to keep his head down and just do his job. But his job always seems to draw him into the eye of a storm. Moreover, despite its scenic charm, Savannah’s no exception. Taylor joins other reporters investigating a decapitation murder. The victim turns out to have abetted a devious scheme to prop up the newspaper’s readership figures. Then Taylor learns that Congressman Bill Hatfield has pulled strings to get the FBI to take over the case. But rather than attempting to expedite the inquiry, Hatfield wants to stall it. Taylor and his colleagues play hide-and-seek with thugs hired to stop them. They endure burglaries, a mugging, vandalism and a harrowing chase. Tension mounts – and so does the body count – as they scramble for the truth.

“A warning for those who need their eight hours of sleep a night,” said Dick Pettys, former Georgia capitol correspondent for The Associated Press. “Once you get into this book, you won’t want to put it down.”

Peterson currently is a political writer and columnist for the Savannah Morning News. His resume includes four decades of experience as a reporter, columnist, supervising editor and freelance writer. The California native has covered six national political-party conventions and numerous candidates for president, governor and Congress. He has been a city or a metro editor at three daily newspapers; he also has served as an editorial-page editor. Peterson’s freelance work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times of Canada and the California Journal.

Author Larry Peterson

He and his wife, former Los Angeles Times reporter Lanie Lippincott Peterson, live on Tybee Island, Ga. Peterson has been honored statewide and regionally  for his writing and for projects he directed  and edited. He attended the University of Southern California and California State University, Long Beach, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science.

Published by Indianapolis-based Dog Ear Publishing, Last Days of the Coastal Empire is the sequel to Peterson’s first novel, City Editor.

Available soon in print and as an e-book at local bookstores and at lastdaysofthecoastalempire.com

Lake Como, Lecco, Italy – enjoying a Campari at the Canottieri Swim Club

Campari on Lake Como – Lecco

My flight arrived into Milano on Wednesday morning. I was so excited that there were extra seats and they gave me business first – which had the new flat beds. It is like having your own private room zooming across the ocean at 35K feet.
Ian and Ely’s wedding was the following afternoon – thank heavens my jetlag stayed at bay. The wedding looked like a Monet painting in motion. They held it at a very old plantation home in Annone, probably built in 16 or 1700s. They set up tables and chairs underneath the shade trees – the kids romped all over the expansive back yard – while the adults talked.

(EFFINGHAM/SAVANNAH, GA) The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) will complete another successful Camp Buddy on Friday, August 3 at 12:00pm when 19 campers will receive graduation medals during ceremonies to be held at Marshpoint Elementary on Whitemarsh Island Road.

The Effingham County Camp Buddy graduated 11 campers on July 29, 2012.

About Camp Buddy:
Geared for children (ages 3 to 12) with
Down Syndrome, Camp Buddy offers educational, therapeutic and recreational activities that are specifically designed with these special kids in mind. Speech, physical and occupational therapists are on board to help campers improve fine and gross motor, speech and social skills. By accomplishing these things their confidence is built up and their unlimited potential is realized.

This year, four seniors from the Armstrong Atlantic physical therapy program volunteered at the camp and were joined by several local high school students who are planning to pursue careers in special education, speech, occupational and physical therapy. Two adult camp assistants, both who have Down Syndrome, rounded out the camp staff roster as they lent a helping hand and inspired everyone with their energy and positive personalities.

Camp Buddy bridges the summer-time gap between the end of one school year and the beginning of the next. “All of these differently-abled children work very hard during the school year and make tremendous gains academically. Our therapy based camp is strenuous but absolutely necessary to promote retention of these gains” says Molly Marchese, the mother of one of the campers, Ella, and an organizer of Camp Buddy.

Speech and social skills improve during the school year so it is crucial that these children do not lose that momentum when school closes for the summer. Camp Buddy helps the children to prepare for the upcoming challenges they face as they advance through the school system.

Highlights at this year’s camps included food therapy with Chef Nick Mueller (Chef Nick Mueller & Company Catering), as well as bike, tricycle, and scooter board riding, activities that not only build motor skills, but also increase the camper’s confidence. Music, dance time, arts and crafts added to the fun.

Each camper is sent home with an individualized therapy plan, a medal, a certificate and a wonderful sense of accomplishment achieved through this exceptional day camp experience.

Camps are funded by money raised through the organization’s annual Down Syndrome Buddy Walk held each October and the continuous support of the local community.

The seventh annual Buddy Walk for the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society is planned for October 6, 2012 at Forsyth Park. During October, National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, more than 300 Buddy Walks will occur throughout the United States. Last year over 4000 people came out to support Down Syndrome awareness in the Savannah area. For more information about the Buddy Walk, please contact John or Candy Bogardus at (912) 728-8505. http://www.ldssga.org

About the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society:
The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) is a support group to benefit people with Down Syndrome and their families through local leadership in support, outreach, education and advocacy. Meetings are held every 4th Tuesday of the month, typically with a guest speaker and social time for families to meet and interact with one another. We encourage people to bring their children. We are an affiliate of the National Down Syndrome Society.

For more information about LDSS or to register for next year’s camp contact John Bogardus at (912) 728-8505. http://www.ldssga.org
