BLAISE DISMER L.C.S.W. TO SPEAK ON AGORAPHOBIA TO THE SAVANNAH CHAPTER OF NAMI ON MARCH 27 AT 7pm.
(SAVANNAH, GA – 3/21/2012) Blaise Dismer, a licensed therapist and recovered agoraphobic, will speak to the Savannah Chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) on Tuesday, March 27 at 7pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 12391 Mercy Blvd. in Savannah, program begins at 6pm . His presentation is titled “Recovering from Severe Anxiety”. Event is open to the public and is free of charge. Call (912) 353-7143 for particulars.
He will discuss his personal journey through and ultimate escape from agoraphobia. His presentation will also deal with the symptomology of the disease, its impact on victims, their families and associates, and the most current treatment protocols.
Agoraphobia, anxiety disorder, panic attack, by any name, it’s a condition affecting 3.2 million Americans rendering them anywhere from socially isolated to totally incapable of leaving their households. It is progressive in nature and can leave victims physically and mentally compromised if left undiagnosed and untreated.
Dismer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.). He holds a masters degree in clinical social work and has three years post-graduate work in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. He is an active affiliate of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America. He has published numerous articles and white papers on anxiety-related topics and has recently authored a book on his personal experience with the disease entitled, “Homebound No More…How I Beat Agoraphobia.” His combination of credentials and personal experience with anxiety disorder make him a recognized authority and sought after lecturer.
The program will be particularly beneficial to individuals suffering from anxiety issues, their friends and relatives, caretakers and psychologists/psychiatrists. Visitors are welcome.
