(HARDEEVILLE, SC) Savannah Hardscapes proudly announces their participation in the ABC reality show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” which is being filmed in Savannah this month.

Savannah Hardscapes is joining forces with Savannah builder J.T. Turner Construction to forever change the lives of a Savannah family by completely rebuilding their house.

“We are very excited to be part of the event,” says Savannah Hardscapes co-owner Jonathan Rhangos. “To know that we are helping to improve the lives of a local family is a great feeling.”

The 181st episode of the popular reality television program will be centered on constructing a new home for a Savannah family in need in less than a week. Savannah’s J. T. Turner Construction Company is the builder for the project, which will require a 24-hour daily work schedule.

Savannah Hardscapes is set to donate materials and supplies which will include brick pavers for the home’s front walkway and the surrounding garden wall. Savannah Hardscapes’ skilled artisan masons will be onsite at the fast paced building project to expertly install the materials at the home.

“Proper installation guarantees that the family will enjoy these elements of their home for many years to come,” Rhangos explains.

The Savannah episode, expected to air six to eight weeks after filming, will also feature a local canned food drive in which America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia will attempt to collect 150 tons, or 300,000 pounds, of canned goods for low-income families.

Dear Wesley Board Members and Wesley Friends ,

Imagine trying to keep two early childhood centers clean and sanitized with over 106 young children on site 5 days a week. Now imagine doing that with little to no money in the budget for ongoing cleaning supplies. We need your help! These items are urgently needed now and on an ongoing basis:

· Rolls of paper towels

· Rolling paper for diaper changing stations

· Latex-free gloves, size large

There are so many ways you can help. Here are just a few ideas:

· Purchase a little more on your routine trips to the store and bring the items to Wesley;

· Join forces with your church, business, or civic group and start a cleaning supply drive;

· Ask stores for donations;

· Donate gift cards for ongoing supplies; and

· Spread the word.

Diana Morrision and I had a great time at Lauretta Hannons’s weekend retreat up in the North GA mountains. We stayed in the oldest Inn, in GA – 1840 or something. Apparently it was the same Inn that was used in the movie the Deliverance. Lauretta is the author of CRACKER QUEEN.

Pictures are from the cell phone – pretty fuzzy/

I gave a talk to the Landings Art Association about helping me start an outdoor Artist’s Square in Telfair Square. I flew to Paris 2 weeks ago to see the famous Montmartre Square – where dozens of artists bring their easels everyday, paint, and sell their artwork to thousands of tourist. Savannah has 22 BEAUTIFUL squares – but no activity except tourist walking through them.

I’m looking forward to my cousin Nancy Watson coming to Savannah for Thanksgiving. It has been YEARS since I cooked a turkey – hopefully she knows how – otherwise I”m going to order a cooked one from PUBLIX.

Zurich to Paris – not so easy

Posted by mysavannah on November 3, 2010

Has anybody ever tried to book a train from Zurich to Paris? Today we tried to buy a ticket from Lecco to Paris. They could only sell us a ticket to Zurich. Looking online tonight, we can’t even book a ticket from Zurich to Paris – you MUST either get a ticket mailed to you OR buy it at the train station… hummm, what year is this 1960?

Vacation in Paris – via Italy

Posted by mysavannah on November 3, 2010

I wasn’t planning on going to Italy, believe it or not, but the flight to Paris was oversold by 15 people on Nov 1. My brother and I decided to see if there were any open seats to London, Frankfurt or Madrid. Everything was full, except for Milano. We boarded for MXP at 6pm – there were only 3 open seats. We were very grateful to get across the Atlantic.

The flight was perfect. I talked to a guy named Martin Bradshaw that was connected to Canali – a high end Italian menswear company. Seemed like the flight was only 6 hours – very quick.

Uncle Chris picked us up at MXP, door 17 out front. We stopped for a cafe half way back to Lake Como. Once we got to their house we took a 4 hour nap – just in time to wake up for a splendid dinner and some wine – which put me right back to sleep.

Nov 3: We were supposed to be in Paris today – but decided to spend the day in Lecco, Italy. I got my hair cut by Marco – then met Davy and Giovanna at CafeCafe for a Moraco Cafe – half coffee, half coco –

The fall fashions of browns, camels and off white are in every window. I just love the flat, tall boots that go over your knee -

Uncle Chris flew to Rome for a meeting today – he should be back about 10pm.

There is a 5 hour difference in time. Right now, it is 6pm and it is already DARK. Hopefully our jet lag is over as we head to Paris tomorrow – via Zurich, Switzerland.

Just spent a few hours working on the computer. Thank heavens for SKYPE!
