Swing Dancing and Lyndy Hop in Savannah –

Posted by mysavannah on August 26, 2008

Letter from the Swing Dancing Club below…

****** BREAKING NEWS ******

Hey Swing Dancers

****** BREAKING NEWS ******

Starting in September, we will have swing dancing on Thursdays again! Doubles Lounge at Holiday Inn Midtown has graciously agreed to host us. Make sure to mark your calendars & head down to Doubles, on Abercorn near Eisenhower, starting Thursday September 4, 2008. I know that you will LOVE the large wooden dance floor, the top notch service staff & the drink specials. Let’s show midtown how swingers get down! Sorry kids, Doubles is strictly 21+

We are really glad to see all the new dancers coming back every week, filled with excitement and wanting to learn more. We will try, each week, to teach a new move; but when we get a lot of new people, we have to start from the beginning. When that happens, we need all of you to help with the lessons. Dancing is fun, but not by yourself! We have to teach it to others to really enjoy swing, so share the love and the passion. If you would like to review the lessons that Dave & Eileen have taught, or you are ready to learn some new moves, check out Tina and Mike from Head Over Hells Dance up in Fairfax, Va. They are friends of Dave & Eileen who took over their classes when they moved to Savannah. http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=headoverheelsdance href=”http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=headoverheelsdance”>http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=headoverheelsdance Their youtube videos include the very basic moves that we have learned and some really neat Charleston and swingout moves as well as some Jam’s. You can even find a jam that Dave and Eileen did last year.

Keep our weekly dance on your calendars. Monday night swing dancing at Tantra Lounge 8 E Broughton Street. AND Starting in September – Thursday night swing dancing at Doubles (Abercorn Street Holiday Inn Midtown). Stay tuned for next week’s exciting news.

Come out and dance, bring a friend, spread the word. See you soon!

I was at Cutter’s Point Coffee on Isle of Hope

Posted by mysavannah on August 23, 2008

..and saw the beautiful portraits done by Kenneth L. Martin – very impressionist, loose – just a terrific style. I called Kenneth and told him that I wanted to commission him to paint a picture for me. We met this afternoon and tomorrow we are going to his studio for the first sitting.

… amazing talent!

He was injured in a car accident when he was 22 years old – he is now 65 – in a wheelchair.

Here is a link to his website

This is going to be my birthday present to myself!

He is going to paint me – with my green coat on – in front of the Jepson Center in Savannah

I met with Lisa Cree today – she signed me up for sendoutcards.com

Posted by mysavannah on August 21, 2008

On the computer, I picked a card design, added a photo and a message.  The company then MAILS IT the old fashion way – through the US Postal Service with a stamp! I sent one to my brother for his birthday – and one to my daughter. It is only about $2.00 per card – very cool! I know we will use this service a lot with my company — thank you notes — reminders — etc…
