2.10.2008 Georgia Day – all museums were free today

February 10, 2008

Left West York Street about 12:15 to make a 1:00pm lecture by Buddy Sullivan at the Richmond Hill Historical Society. He gave a 45 minute talk about the history of Bryan County. I didn’t realize that Henry Ford actually named the city. Buddy also talked about how turpentine was big business in the county, and the buckets that collected the sap from the pine trees were called HERTYs.

Today, I stuck a new, tall, pointy, Aloe plant in the same pot as the little, squat Jade plant, that had been struggling to grow above 1 inch. When I stepped back and looked at the unlikely couple, forced together in a moss covered terracotta pot, I laughed. We’ll see what happens.
